PREPARATION FOR COLLEGE AND BEYOND

BG students have gone on to great success in college and careers

They have gone on to study at Harvard, UPenn, Notre Dame, military academies, and many other prestigious universities. 95% of our grads go on to higher education, enrolling at the schools that are right for them including local colleges such as St Francis, Mt Aloyisius, Juniata, and Penn State (Main Campus and Altoona) as well as all over the country. They receive scholarships at a high rate, for both academics or athletics.

Alumni of BG have received undergraduate or graduate degrees from virtually all of the top universities in the country over the years. But, more importantly, BG grads have succeeded at finding a plan that is right for them. . They have options and are prepared. The ranking of their college is ultimately not as important as whether the student is on their path to succeed in whatever life has in store for them. We are equally proud of all our grads who are defining themselves.

While many students enter BG brimming with confidence, most students enter unsure of their potential for success. But by the time BG’s Jr High students reach 9th grade, they will already have taken high school level courses and have gained confidence. For many, it’s a surprise. They get caught up in the expectations and rise to meet the challenge. As they succeed, step by step, they gain confidence.

High expectations, strong support, and positive peer influences turn even the most reluctant students into confident learners. In the select admission Pre-AP 7/8th grade program, students will have already have a full year of high school courses completed and be well on their way toward taking college courses for credit while still at BG.

Over 70% of students take college level courses, and many students complete a full semester or even over a full year of college credits before graduating BG. Many of these students would not have risen to this level if not for BG’s program that helped them get there. Instead of limiting students and making it difficult to gain access, BG encourages college level courses. Students are encouraged to try and they do succeed. The more ambitious students can even earn their first college degree- a 2 year associates degree- at the same time they graduate from BG. These not only can save money on college, but provides flexibility to graduate college early, lighten a course load, or take time off for internships or travel.

Every BG high school student has a unique experience. By the time 4 years is completed, no two students would have had the same schedule. That’s because each student is unique. Everyone has opportunities to pursue their interests, be part of teams, travel, and been exposed to life changing experiences that help them become the person they are meant to be.
